Egeruan Babatunde Imoukhuede
Babatunde joined the European Malaria Vaccine Initiative (now European Vaccine Initiative) in 2005. As Director of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs Babatunde’s main areas of responsibility are the supervision of clinical trials and the European and Developing Countries’ Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) funded project: Integrating Capacity Building and Networking in the Design and Conduct of Phase I and II Clinical Trials of Viral Vectored Candidate Malaria Vaccines in East and West African Children and Infants (Malaria Vectored Vaccines Consortium - MVVC), and the drafting of project applications to a.o. the European Commission.
Babatunde started focusing on malaria when working as a Clinical Research Fellow/Malaria Vaccine Trial Director for the Gates Malaria Partnership at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). He gained extensive hands on experience while working at military hospitals in Nigeria and The Gambia, complemented by field experience as clinical epidemiologist and principal investigator between 2001 – 2004 at the Medical Research Council, The Gambia. Babatunde has several scientific publications in peer reviewed journals to his credit.
Babatunde graduated in 1984, with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees from the University of Benin, Nigeria augmented by a degree in Health Systems Management at the LSHTM in 2003.
