"Practical approaches to vaccine development"

 

Introduction to the training course

This course aims to provide an overview of all parts of the vaccine development pipeline.  The course is ideally suited to persons working in vaccine development who wish to expand and broaden their knowledge of the field.  A maximum of 15 participants will be selected, via a competitive process, to attend this five-day full-time training course.  The course is run by the TRANSVAC project which is funded by the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme.

Business Development Aspects, Antigen Systems, Fermentation & Media, Downstream Processing, Formulation,
Animal Models, Stability Studies,
Toxicology, GLP, and Clinical Dossiers.

When?

The first course took place from the 3rd to the 6th of September 2012 and the second from the 11th to the 15th of March 2013. Further information will be posted on this webpage if a similar course is organised in the future.

Where?

The course is held at the Vaccine Formulation Laboratory (VFL), Department of Biochemistry, University of Lausanne, Chemin des Boveresses 155, 1066 Epalinges, Switzerland.

Costs?

The European Commission-funded project TRANSVAC supports most of the costs associated with attending the course. The registration and hotel costs are covered by the TRANSVAC project but participants will be responsible for covering their own food costs (where not provided as part of the course) and their travelling costs from their home, to and from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.

Accommodation?

Hotel accommodation is available in Hôtel L’Union from the day preceding the beginning of the course to the day following the end of the course. Accommodation costs are covered by TRANSVAC only for this hotel. All reservations must be made through the course organisers.

How to get to Epalinges?

The closest major airports are Geneva Airport or Zurich Airport. Both airports have good train connections to Lausanne. The VFL is located in Epalinges which can be easily be reached from Lausanne Gare (Lausanne Main Train Station) via the Lausanne Metro Line M2 (Metro station “Croisettes”).
