Training: Free Modular Course on Concepts in Vaccine Development
Two modular courses on concepts in vaccine development will be organised at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Lausanne, Epalinges, Switzerland in August 2012 and 2013. The vaccine formulation laboratory at University of Lausanne has been created under the auspices of the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Adjuvant Development Initiative (GADI) which aims at facilitating access to adjuvant systems and associated know-how for the public sector.
The course aims at developing a set of modules for customised courses on vaccine research and development. It addresses an audience outside the TRANSVAC consortium and will increase preparedness of potential vaccine developers.
The modular course will focus on the practical approaches to vaccine development and will cover aspects such as Antigen Systems, Fermentation and Media, Downstream Processing, Formulation, Animal Models, Stability Studies and QC, Toxicology/GLP, as well as Clinical and Business Development Aspects. Renowned international speakers from both industry and academia will be lecturing on the specific subjects.
It is expected that 15 participants will be able to attend the course. Selection of attendees will take place through a competitive selection process. There will be no fees for attending the course; however participants will be responsible for covering their own travelling and accommodation costs in Lausanne.
Registration for the course is not yet open, i.e. TRANSVAC is not currently accepting applications for participation in the course.
